2 including Sri Lankan held with 192 kg ganja

Police arrested Sakthivel of Sri Lanka, while two other Sri Lankan nationals managed to escape from the scene.

VEDARANYAM: The Coastal Security Police has seized 192 kg of ganja worth Rs 20 lakh allegedly meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka through Vedaranyam coast in Nagapattinam district on Friday night.

Police said, the coastal security police led by DSP Kalitheerthaan intercepted a load auto-rickshaw at Periyakuthagai area near Vedaranyam and on examination seized six bundles of ‘ganja’ hid under coconut thatched leaves (Keettru). They arrested the vehicle driver Ramesh Kumar (30) of Vanavanmadevi.

Police asked the arrested man to inform about the contraband arrival over his mobile to the three Sri Lankan Tamils, namely Munish, Sakthivel and Sukumar who were waiting at a coastal spot with a boat.
