Kerala: Trio remanded for murder
KOZHIKODE: The wife and mother-in-law of Sreedharan of Mokeri, near Kuttiady, and a migrant worker, all accused in his murder, were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by the first class magistrate court here on Friday. The police will seek their custody on Saturday for further questioning, said Kuttiady CI T. Sajeevan, who is investigating the case.
“Parimal Aldar, from Midnapur, West Bengal, was staying in the house of Sreedharan for the past six months for construction and renovation works. He developed an intimacy with Sreedharan’s wife Girija, who has a four-year-old son, and they conspired to kill Sreedharan. His mother-in-law Devi was also part of the conspiracy,” said the CI.
According to the police, Sreedharan was given sleeping pills on the night of July 8 and was choked to death. When the neighbours insisted on a post-mortem, the family refused and buried the body the next day. On Friday, the body was exhumed and a post-mortem was held at Government Medical College Hospital. The post-mortem report also confirmed the conspiracy angle, the CI said. The police shifted the son to the house of Girija’s brother.
