Bengaluru: The State government is likely to hand over the August 1 bomb blast case in Mysuru court to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Home Minister G. Parameshwar told Deccan Chronicle that since the blast had similarities not only with the court blasts in Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh on April 7 and in Kollam in Kerala on June 15, but also some other blasts in North India, the government may hand over the Mysuru blast case to the NIA.
“In all probability we will hand over the case to the NIA for a thorough investigation. Right now teams from the NIA, Intelligence Bureau, Internal Security Division and local police are investigating the blast,” said the Home Minister.
A low intensity blast had exploded on August 1 in the public toilet of the Principal District Judge Court in Mysuru, which had injured four people and severely damaged the walls.
According to official sources a “professional” terror group is behind the blast. The improvised explosive device (IED), which reportedly comprised mixture of potassium chlorate and gunpowder was packed in a three-litre pressure cooker of ‘Murugan’ brand and was triggered by a battery-powered timer device. The initial finger of suspicion is on the banned home grown terror outfits - Indian Mujahideen and Al Umma.
