Seethaphalmandi case: Land dispute may have led to attack

The four have not been arrested yet but police officials say they will be taken into custody soon.

Hyderabad: An attack on a 62-year-old man, allegedly by the father of the corporator from Seethaphalmandi and his henchmen, may leave the victim, Veera Swami blind for the rest of his life.

“A person named Dikshit from our neighbourhood repeatedly punched my husband while Karate Raju supported him,” alleged Madhu Malathy.

“When I pleaded with the onlookers to call 100 or 108 to help my husband get medical help, Karate Raju threatened those gathered aroun and told them not to call anybody and to let the man die,” she alleged.

According to the complainant, the corporator Hema Sharma and her family had a dispute with Veera Swami over land and a house at Chilkalguda. Recently, a local court gave a judgment in favour of Mr Swami.

“In order to take revenge, the corporator and her father sent their men to attack us,” said a member of Mr Swami’s family.

At first the Chilkalguda police were hesitant to book a case, but as scores of people gathered at the police station seeking action against Karate Raju, the police finally booked a case against him.

Dikshit and two others under IPC 307 for attempt to murder. The four have not been arrested yet but police officials say they will be taken into custody soon. At the hospital, Mr Swami's condition remains critical and doctors suspect he may lose his vision.
