Hyderabad: Visually impaired says SI filed false charges
Hyderabad: A 29-year-old visually challenged person from Meerpet approached the State Human Rights Commission stating that he was implicated in a false case by Banjara Hills sub-inspector Jitender Reddy.
Mr Kanugula Naresh, an used car dealer, said the SI had intervened in a financial dispute after he asked movie director K. Vijay Reddy to pay up the balance amount for a car that was sold to him. The SI has denied the allegations.
Mr Naresh in his petition stated that he met director Kolli Vijay Reddy through a commercial website where he had sought a used car. Naresh sold him a Volkswagan (AP 29BN 9724), registered on his wife’s name, to Mr Vijay Reddy in September 2016.
The director paid Rs 50,000 as advance. When he did not pay the balance, Mr Naresh along with a few friends went to Mr Vijay Reddy’s office. Mr Naresh alleged that the director abused him on his visual challenged status.
“The movie director said that he had the support of the SI and could implicate me in false cases,” Mr Naresh said.
They went to the Meerpet police station to lodge a complaint. Meanwhile, Mr Naresh alleged, Mr Jitender Reddy called him and offered to resolve the issue.
After going to the Banjara Hills police station, Mr Jitender Reddy told the dealer that Vijay Reddy was a “big person” and that he would be in trouble if he did not drop the matter, Mr Naresh claimed.
“The SI abused me and asked him to leave. Despite showing proofs of Vijay Reddy threatening me, the SI did not agree and deleted all the voice recordings of Vijay Reddy and warned me,” the car dealer said in the petition.
“Later in the evening, he demanded Rs 30,000 to let me off and threatened to file false charges against me. He then booked me on a false case and sent me to remand,” Mr Naresh added.
Mr Jitender Reddy denied the claims. He said Mr Naresh along with three others had kidnapped Mr Vijay Reddy. Three of them were arrested, while one is absconding.
“It is a genuine case. I am ready for an inquiry and if found guilty I will face any action,” said the police officer.
