Hyderabad: Four-member gang that stole gold, silver held
Hyderabad: Two days after 1.14 kg gold and 7 kg silver were stolen from the house of a businessman at Panjagutta, city police arrested a four-member gang in connection with the case. Police found that they had broken into the house with the help of a man working as a cook in the house of victim. The cook, Umesh Kumar Mukiya Kabad, 23, a native of Bihar, planned the burglary with the help of his friends. He alerted other suspects when the owner, Jitender Kumar Gupta, who owns a plastic manufacturing firm and a jewellery shop in Hyderabad, left for a marriage with his family.
The others arrested were identified as Hare Ram Sahanae Misser, 24, Upender Mukiya, 21 and his brother Rajendar Mukiya, all natives of Bihar. While the first three work as cook in various houses in the city, Rajendar works as a driver. Another suspect is still absconding.
“Umesh Kumar had started working in Gupta’s house one month ago. He behaved well throughout and had convinced the house owners that he was a trustworthy person. But, he chalked out a plan to loot the house with his friends,” said a senior police official from West Zone.
“When Gupta and family left the house to go to Shamshabad to attend a wedding, he informed Umesh Kumar that they would return after three days, and asked him to look after the house. As soon the house owner and family left the house, he called in his friends, who brought crowbar, sharp edged iron rods and other blunt weapons. They broke open the main door and then stole gold and silver from the almirah inside the bedroom,” said West Zone DCP A Venkateswar Rao.
After the theft, in a bid to escape to Bihar, the gang went to Warangal in a bus and then went to Vijayawada. Their plan was to board Guwahati express, but west zone police arrested them with the help of Vijayawada cops.
