Eight RSS-BJP men booked in murder bid of Sreejan
KANNUR: Kathirur police on Tuesday booked eight identifiable RSS-BJP men for the murder attempt on CPM Kunnummal branch committee member Sreejan alias Babu (43). An auto driver and husband of Eranholi grama panchayat president Ramya A.K., he was critically injured and is recovering at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Police could not take his statement as he had to undergo an emergency surgery.
Mr Sreejan was attacked the previous evening while he was inside the auto-rickshaw on Nayanar Road, Ponnyam. The gang that came from various sides hit and hacked him as he tried to escape. He was injured in head, chest and limbs and was profusely bleeding. He was first taken to Thalassery Cooperative Hospital. Kuthuparamba CI U. Preman investigating the case did not reveal the names of the suspects but hinted that they belonged to RSS-BJP. CPM observed a 6-to-6 hartal in Eranholi panchayat in protest.
