Kerala High Court grants bail to T V Maniyappan in Rs 9.2 crore scam

Maniyappan is accused of siphoning Rs 9.2 crore while working as secretary of the Pattanakkadu Service Cooperative BanK

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday granted bail to T.V. Maniyappan, the first accused in the Rs 9.2 crore Pattanakkadu Service Cooperative Bank fund misappropriation case. Justice B Kemal Pasha granted bail to the accused on executing a bond of Rs 5 lakhs along with two solvent sureties for the like sum to the satisfaction of the concerned Judicial First Class Magistrate

The Vigilance case is that Maniyappan while working as secretary of the Pattanakkadu Service Cooperative Bank, along with a senior clerk and an attendant made false entries in the accounts of the bank from April 01, 2014 to October 13, 2015, forged data and thereby siphoned off Rs 9.2 crore. Justice B. Kemal Pasha observed that continued detention was not required in the context of period of custody of the petitioner and the present stage of investigation.
