Drunk bikers kill dancing man for splashing water on them

The man was enjoying the rain outside when he accidentally splashed water on two passers-by.

New Delhi: A 33-year-old man was beaten to death by two passers-by for accidentally splashing some water on them in Anand Parbat on Sunday night. Reacting swiftly, the police conducted raids at several hideouts and nabbed the assailants within hours of the murder.

The victim, Radhe Shyam, lived with his family in Anand Parbat’s industrial area and worked at a local factory. When heavy rains lashed parts of the city on Sunday night, he decided to take a bath in the downpour.

Shyam walked out of his home to the narrow road outside and began dancing in the rain. At the time, two friends, Shashi Bhushan and Pankaj, were passing by on a Pulsar motorcycle.

“The two men on the motorcycle had consumed alcohol at a factory before they left together for their homes in Anand Parbat,” according to Parmaditya, DCP (central district). Bhushan is a labourer in the industrial area and Pankaj works for a garments factory in Karol Bagh.

Already drenched by the heavy rain, the two drunk friends were infuriated when a dancing Shyam accidentally splashed them with water. They got off their motorcycle and began verbally abusing the victim.

When Shyam asked them to mind their language, the two friends allegedly picked up a stick each and launched a merciless assault on him.

Highly inebriated at the time of the incident, Bhushan and Pankaj did not cease their assault before Shyam collapsed on the road. Meanwhile, local residents rushed out of their homes on hearing his screams, forcing the assailants to flee on their motorcycle.

Shyam was rushed to Lady Hardinge Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The police registered a murder case and used sources in the area to gather information on the hideouts of the suspects.

“Secret information led to Bhushan’s arrest from Zakhira. At his instance, his accomplice Pankaj too was nabbed soon. We have recovered the weapons used in the murder,” said the DCP.
