Hyderabad: Excise and enforcement team nabbed two drug peddlers and seized seven grams of cocaine and opium worth Rs 1.4 lakh from them on Tuesday.
According to the excise cops, the accused Bagari Santhosh, 21 and Mohd. Masood, 38, were smuggling cocaine and opium into the city and selling it to needy customers.
When questioned they confessed to the crime and revealed that the main accused, Sheikh Fahad, purchases cocaine and opium from a Nigerian named Peter, resident of Suncity, Hydershahguda. The officials have seized seven grams of cocaine and two grams of opium worth Rs 1.4 lakh from them. Police said a manhunt is on for the main accused Sheikh Fahad who fled away from the spot, and Peter.
Assistant excise superintendent, Enforcement, N. Anji Reddy said that, “Several procuring cocaine including some who were earlier booked under similar crimes were booked under Section 27 of NDPS cases. Further legal action will be initiated against them according to the provisions of NDPS Act.”
