Hyderabad: A 9-year-old Class V student was raped by a 20-year-old neighbour a week ago, and was sexually assaulted again by his 18-year-old brother on Sunday, Banjara Hills police said.
The brothers, Srikanth, 20 and Yelleswamy alias Yellesh, 18, who are both dropouts, lured the girl with chocolates and candies in the afternoon when elders were out working, said the police inspector of Banjara Hills, K. Srinivas.
“The issue came to light when the girl approached her mother on Monday, stating that Yellesh had sexually assaulted her on Sunday and Srikanth raped her one week ago, following which her parents approached the police,” said the official. Officials stated that the duo are absconding.
“Srikanth raped the child a week ago and yesterday his brother Yellesh did the same. The duo are pressurising the victims’ family to withdraw the case,” said the president of an NGO for children, Achyuta Rao.
Based on a complaint from her parents, the police booked cases against the brothers under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code and PoCSO Act.
