Hyderabad: A nine-year-old boy was sexually assaulted at a mosque in Santoshnagar by a 28-year-old worker, when he went to offer prayers. The victim, a Class V student, is the son of a Gulf-based man, who stays in Santoshnagar with his mother, police said.
“The boy is keeping a fast during Ramzan and goes to the mosque every day to offer prayers between 7.45 pm and 10 pm. On April 28, the boy came home crying at 9 pm. The puzzled mother questioned him and learnt that one Imran, took him to the terrace and tried to sexually assault him,” said the ACP, Santoshnagar, S.V.N. Shivaram Sharma.
Imran covered the boy’s mouth and tried to sexually assault him. When the boy raised an alarm, he tried to escape and threatened the boy to not reveal the incident to anyone.
“On May 1, we received a complaint from the mother, following which we booked a case under relevant sections of the IPC against Imran and arrested him on Monday,” added the official....
