Gang arrested for stealing cattle in Hyderabad

Police also seized a truck, two SUVs and Rs 9.6 lakh in cash from them. Four other members of the gang are absconding.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Saturday a nabbed a six-member gang of cattle traders who stole 26 cattle from another trader in May.

Police said the gang sold the cattle at a market in Kerala for around Rs 12 lakh.
Police also seized a truck, two SUVs and Rs 9.6 lakh in cash from them. Four other members of the gang are absconding.

According to police, Md Sadaqat, hailing from UP and a cattle trader purchased the cattle from markets at Zaheerabad in Medak and was transporting them in a truck for sale in Srikakulam.

The truck was owned by one Moin. Moin’s brother-in-law, Md Aleem Qureshi, a beef trader from Kishanbagh, came to know about this. He along with his nine friends hatched a plan to waylay the truck midway through the transportation.

The gang hired two SUVs and intercepted the truck in Gollapally village in Shamshabad mandal on May 10. “They asked Sadaqat and the drivers to get down from the truck, threatened them, and snatched away their mobile phones and Rs 40,000 in cash. Then, they drove away with the truck and the cattle,” said SI Md Khaleel Pasha from Shamshabad police station.

According to police, the gang drove the truck to Kerala and sold the cattle to a beef trader for Rs 12 lakh. After a search in the surrounding areas for two days, Sadaqat lodged a complaint with police.

Based on clues, cops apprehended Md Aleem Qureshi, Md Osman Qureshi Md Khadeer, K Anand, Shaik Babujani and Shaik Moula and produced them before a court, while four others were absconding.

Police also seized the truck, two SUVs and Rs 9.6 lakh in cash from them.
