Hyderabad: Two Sudanese held for raping 21-year Ugandan girl from Pune
Hyderabad: Two Sudan nationals studying in city were arrested by Osmania University police for raping a 21-year-old Ugandan resident of Pune on Thursday night, allegedly in an inebriated condition. The victim, who works for a private firm in Pune, met the two men in Goa last year and has previously met them in the city, police said. The arrested were identified as Amar Hasan, 26, a B.Pharm student of Holy Mary College, and Mohd Fageer, 25, a B. Tech of St. Mary's College.
According to police, the victim, a native of Kampala in Uganda and a resident of Pune, met the men through her brother. "She had been texting Hasan regularly and visited him in March, staying at his residence in Seethaphalmandi," said Kachiguda ACP J. Narsaiah.
Hasan persuaded her to meet him again, following which she came to see him on April 29 and again stayed at Hasan's place.
“After some sightseeing on Thursday night, the duo partied at Hasan's residence, after which he raped her. The victim then approached Osmania University police station and lodged a complaint on Friday,” said Osmania University police inspector G. Jagan.
Based on the complaint, a case was booked under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the Sudanese nationals were arrested from Sitaphalmandi railway station on Friday.
The victim was referred to Bharosa Centre for counselling after a medical examination.
