Hyderabad: 17 foreign nat'is held in search operations

The operation started at 3 am on Friday and concluded at 6 am.

Hyderabad: Cordon and search operations were conducted in Rajendranagar on Friday. As many as 17 foreign nationals -- 10 Nigerians, five Cameroon nationals and three Yemen nationals – were taken into custody by Cyberabad police for submitting false residence addresses. A few of them also didn’t have valid documents for the stay.

Nineteen others suspects were taken into custody after they were found having links with criminals, which showed up on the C-DAT APP. Besides, 33 two-wheelers and four cars, whose owners didn’t have adequate papers, were seized. Some 200 police personnel participated in the search operation held under the supervision of Shamshabad DCP V. Padmaja at P&T Colony in Rajendernagar police station limits. The operation started at 3 am on Friday and concluded at 6 am.

Another search operation was conducted at Ram Chandernagar in Madannapet in which 250 cops took part, including ACP Santoshnagar Shivram Sharma. The operation, led by DCP South Zone V. Satyanarayana, started at around 4 pm and completed by 7 pm on Friday. South Zone police had been receiving requests from local residents for search operations in the area. “This operation was carried out on public request. There won't be any further operations or Chabutra Mission during the upcoming Ramzan,” Mr. Satyanarayana said.

Cops son, 4 others held for robbery

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police on Friday arrested a five-member gang of robbers, including the son of a police head constable, who were involved in robberies, extortions and chain snatchings offences. The suspects include two students as well, the police said. Property worth around '2.50 lakh was recovered from their possession along with their four bikes that they used for committing the offences.

The suspects were identified as Sherugudam Shiva Kumar, Kothapally Dinesh Reddy, Annavaina Bharath Kumar, Syed Wajeed and Bisikunda Jagadish. According to the police, the gang was involved in 10 different offences.

Shiva Kumar and Dinesh were involved in all offences.

Friend’s tip helps nab murder accused

Hyderabad: A vital clue from a passerby helped Cyberabad police solve a murder case reported on April 26. The passerby ironically turned out to be a friend of the suspect who had killed one N. Neelakantha near Padmavathi wine shop at Bharatnagar. The suspect was identified as Kamble Sachin, hailing from Bidar in Karnataka.

Police said Neelakantha drank heavily at the wine shop and fell unconscious. Meanwhile, Kamble who works at a hotel in Bharatnagar who also visited the wine shop, and planned to rob Neelakantha but left the place and returned after the shop closed. He found Neelakantha sleeping beside the shop and attacked him with a boulder, crushing his head and killing him on the spot. He searched Neelakantha’s pockets but found nothing. He then fled the spot.

The incident came to light on the next day after passersby noticed the body lying in a pool of blood. During investigations, Kamble’s friend who witnessed the incident told police all about it. Based on the tip-off, police nabbed Kamble who later confessed to his role in the offence. He was arrested and sent in judicial remand on Friday.
