Chennai: VCK man thraetens businessman for money, held
Chennai: The city police have arrested a Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) functionary for demanding money from a businessman, on Friday. According to police sources, Ranganath Shetty of Amman Koil Street in Seven Wells is running a jewel shop in Chennai and owns a building on Govindappa Naicken Street in Parrys Corner.
As the building is old, Ranganath has decided to demolish it and construct a new building on the same piece of land. Meanwhile, Ranganath had approached police alleging that Manikandan (36) of Muthialpet had demanded give Rs 4 lakh money as ‘mamool’, the police said. Manikandan is said to be a member of Thirumavalavan led Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) political party. He is 55th ward secretary of the party, the police said. Manikandan also had allegedly threatened that he would murder Ranganath and his family them with the help of rowdies of North Chennai.
