Hyderabad: Rachakonda SHE teams arrested 23 persons who were allegedly involved in eve-teasing and have booked cases against them. All the 23 persons are majors and were counselled by the police.
Of the 23 persons, five were involved in harassing girls and women of their colonies. B. Vinay, a student aged 19, was found stalking a girl aged 17 of the same colony and in another case a person named V.V. Ramesh Reddy was troubling a 35-year-old housewife.
Another youth, R. Akhilesh, 18, was continuously harassing a girl aged 14 by using offensive words and was making blank calls.
One J. Rohit, 19, was harassing a Class X girl by sending her love messages. He sent messages to the girl’s mother too. In an another case a 31-year-old woman working as a security guard was troubled by one Jangiah who kept on calling her, police commissioner M. Mahesh Bhagwat said.
He noted, “Apart from this, 18 others were caught in decoy operations conducted by SHE teams and after receiving WhatsApp complaints from Rachakonda areas. All these persons were booked under petty cases and counselled by professional counsellors in the presence of their families.”
