Bengaluru: Ex-serviceman held for taking girl's picture
Bengaluru: Cubbon Park police have arrested a 33-year-old ex-serviceman for allegedly taking photos of an undergraduate student at the Lake Development Authority (LDA) building on Church Street on Thursday.
The student who is interning with a national television channel, had filed a complaint at the police station alleging that Senthil Kumar, a resident of Ramachandra Puram, took her pictures on his mobile phone when she along with her colleague was waiting for an official in the lobby to get his quote for a story. “When I was waiting, I heard a clicking sound. When I turned, I saw a man taking my pictures on his mobile phone. I informed my colleague and senior reporter who checked the man’s phone only to find several pictures of mine,” the girl said in the complaint. After catching the man with her pictures, the girl informed police officials who arrested Kumar.
The girl told cops that Kumar claimed he worked for a local newspaper which proved to be false during the investigation. Police sources said he worked in the Army and retired in 2016. Since then he was looking for a job. Kumar has been booked under IPC 509 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and investigations are underway.
