JeM suspect, nabbed in Delhi, auditioned for TV reality show
New Delhi: Sajid Ahmad, the alleged leader of a terror group was nabbed by police on Wednesday in Delhi, had earlier auditioned for a television reality show, according to reports.
The group, which comprises 12 members, was planning to conduct a Pathankot style terror attack in NCR and at Hindon air base, said police.
The alleged leader was part of a WhatsApp group of 40 members which used to get directives from Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar’s brother Talha. According to police, the plan was at a nascent stage and the group was trying its hand at making bombs. Sajid used to take bomb-making lessons from YouTube in order to produce explosives.
Sajid's fad for extremist ideologies took shape when he started following JeM's Facebook page. Being impressed by the doctrines of JeM, Sajid started sharing its posts. Meanwhile, he was also forwarded a number in order to contact Talha.
The plot came to light when Sajid injured his hands while making bomb. He was immediately arrested by the police after the latter spotted his injured hand. The police had been keeping a watch on the group for quite a long time and Ahmed’s arrest was a major tip off for them.
