Hyderabad: North zone police arrested two women pickpockets from an RTC bus at Secunderabad. B. Laxmi, 50, and B. Laxmi, 20, both cousins, were robbing women passengers in crowded buses. The suspects had stolen 45 grams of gold and Rs 15,000 from three passengers.

The senior Laxmi belongs to Rajahmundry in East Godavari and the junior Laxmi lives in Laxmiguda, Rajendranagar.

“The former was earlier arrested by Mahankali police in 2015 and was released on bail. She was later arrested by Nalgonda police. But, after release, she started committing thefts in crowded buses and asked the latter to join her,” said a senior official of Gopalapuram police station.

“Using the crowds in buses as a cover they steal valuables from the handbags of women passengers by opening the zip,” the official added. The duo was produced in court and was sent to judicial custody.
