Kochi: Petrol pump staff beaten up for entering wrong pin number
Kochi: An employee of a petrol pump at Kalamassery was cruelly beaten up on Tuesday morning by a gang which came in a car for filling up fuel, accusing him of entering wrong ATM pin. Praveen (21), a resident of Kambam in Tamil Nadu, was admitted to the Kalamasery Medical College even as the three accused fled towards the Aluva direction. The incident happened at 7.30 am at the Hindustan Petroleum Pump in front of the Apollo Tyres. A three-member gang came in their car and filled fuel for Rs 1,000. They then gave out their ATM card for settling the bill. However, they gave the wrong pin number twice and when the victim asked for correct pin, the gang beat him up.
Praveen ran towards the pump office to escape from the assault, however, the three accused followed him and beat him up inside the office. Only two women staff were there at this time. A complaint was later lodged with the Kalamassery police which seized the car from Aluva. “We’ve seized the car and efforts are on to nab the three youths aged in their thirties. The trio was believed to be in an inebriated state while carrying out the attack,” police said.
