Person who shadowed advocate couple before murder held
PEDDAPALLI: Ramagundam police officials have arrested Udari Lakshman alias Lachaiah, another accused in the brutal murder of advocate couple Gattu Vaman Rao and P. V. Nagamani at Kalvacherla village in Ramagiri mandal of Peddapalli district on February 17.
Lachaiah is the fifth accused to be arrested. He followed the couple, who were advocates practising in the Telangana High Court, like a shadow and kept passing on information about their movements to Kunta Srinu, who finally succeeded in killing the couple along with others at Kalvacherla village.
The fifth accused is stated to have been in the company of Kunta Srinu, Chiranjeevi and Akkapaka Kumar on the day of murder. Lachaiah is also a native of Gunjapadugu village to which the advocate couple belonged.
After coming to know about the murder, Lachaiah, along with Kumar, went to Gunjapadugu village through Centenary colony, Rachapally and Kannala Nagaram. He went absconding after police arrested Kumar.
Lachaiah has been sent to Karimnagar jail for 14 days’ judicial custody.
Police have produced before the Manthani magistrate nine people as eye witnesses. They include driver and conductor of the bus, in front of which the murder took place, apart from Gattu Kishan Rao, father of murdered advocate Vaman Rao.
