Hyderabad: A murder case was registered against SI Chittibabu for killing his wife Sarojana and a suspicious death case was filed for killing himself at the Dubbaka police station. Although a complaint from Chittibabu’s son Premkumar said that his father was harassed by Siddipet police commissioner V. Shivakumar and ACP Narsimha Reddy, the charges were not added in the case. Meanwhile, protesting against the SI’s suicide, Dubbaka town observed a bandh on Saturday.
In all cases of SI suicides, suspicious death (174 CrPC) case was registered though there were allegations of harassment. But in SI Ramakrishna Reddy’s case, the HC ordered Medak police to register an abetment to suicide case against the cops who were named in the SIs suicide note, after his wife Dhana-lakshmi approached the High Court.
DIG Hyderabad Akun Sabharwal said the case was transferred to a senior officer. Meanwhile, Siddipet police commissioner V. Shiva Kumar denied the allegations saying that they had nothing personal against any officer, but at times when required parameters are not met, they will instruct subordinates accordingly.
“We recently organised a workshop on stress control methods and one to one counselling was also given to all SIs. Chittibabu actively participated in the programme. In addition to suicide, why he killed his wife is a big question now,” the commissioner said. The Siddipet ACP was unavailable for comment.
