Hyderabad killer got passport, escaped to Dubai

Akheeluddin aka Khaleefa dodged the police and went to Dubai after acquiring a passport in a fake name.

Hyderabad: The alleged killer of Sami Ahmed Siddiqui, 22, who was killed on Chandrayangutta flyover on February 7, Mohd Akheeluddin, 23, is a fugitive involved in around 60 chain-snatching cases and several other thefts. He had at least 11 warrants against him. When the police started booking habitual offenders under the PD Act, Akheeluddin aka Khaleefa dodged the police and went to Dubai after acquiring a passport in a fake name.

He came back to India in 2015 and soon stabbed Sami Ahmed Siddiqui to death in front of his wife at Chandrayangutta. The murder of Sami Ahmed Siddiqui could have been prevented if the police had arrested the man in time. Sami Ahmed Siddiqui’s wife was taken out by Akheeluddin and his friends on February 6 night to push her into the flesh trade. When Siddiqui objected Akheeluddin stabbed Siddiqui to death in front of his wife.

Police said Akheeluddin and his gang went on a chain-snatching spree from 2011. He was arrested but came out on bail. The trial of at least 20 cases were pending in cases against him. SR Nagar police had arrested him and his gang and had recovered one kg gold four years ago.

“In October 2014 he gave a false name and address of a person named Mohammed Mustafa and acquired a passport. We are still investigating how the passport cell and OSB field officer cleared the fake ID details,” said K. Pratap Reddy, an SI. The police booked a case on the passport issue on February 25 after the murder of Siddiqui.

In 2014, Akheeluddin secured a visit visa and went to Dubai posing as Muhammed Mustafa. He managed to stay there for a year by extending the visa.
“After he returned he continued to party in pubs. Hours before he murdered Siddiqui he got drunk at a pub,” said a police official.
Akheeluddin is now in judicial custody in connection with the new murder.
