Hyderabad: A 21-year-old student was nabbed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sunday for possessing live ammunitions. The student, identified as Vaibhav Kumar Sharma, was on a visit to Hyderabad.

The police said Sharma is an engineering student in his hometown of Moradabad in UP. Two days ago, he landed at Hyderabad airport along with a group of his friends for a city tour. He was heading for Goa when the arrest took place.

He reached the airport to board a Goa-bound GoAir flight on Sunday morning. The security personnel intercepted him while he was passing through the security check. A live bullet was found after a search of his baggage. He was detained and handed over to the airport police.

Investigations revealed that the bullet was 7.65mm calibre and concealed under the clothes in the baggage. Sharma could not produce any documents related to the ammunition and claimed that he was unaware how it got into his baggage. A case filed under the Arms Act and the accused was arrested.
