Hyderabad: Banjara Hills arrested two persons, Anand Ray and Sanjeet Tiwari, security guards at a construction site, for allegedly killing a worker, Pankaj Kumar, 32, on the New Year’s night after a series of brawls.
The accused and the deceased belong to Bihar and were in the city to earn their livelihood, Banjara Hills station house officer P. Sateesh.
According to the police, Pankaj Kumar came to the city a month ago and joined his nephew Rajesh Kumar, who was working in a construction site at Road No. 14 of Banjara Hills. On January 1 evening, Pankaj, Rajesh and their friends were consuming alcohol at the site.
The accused came over, picked up an argument with Rajesh and Pankaj, dragged the duo into an open area and started beating Rajesh with sticks.
Pankaj threw stones at them to drive the duo away. The accused then turned on Pankaj who escaped. Later, the site contractor asked Pankaj to apologise to the accused.
Sometime later, the accused came to the accommodation area and dragged out Pankaj and fatally assaulted him. He was declared dead on January 2.
