Cops raid brothel, arrest customer, organiser
Hyderabad: The LB Nagar zone Rachakonda police raided a brothel run from a house and arrested the organiser along with a customer and “rescued” two women.
According to the police, Balapally Vara Laxmi, 30, was running the brothel. A student, Pranav, 21, was held. Main organiser Gongeti Venkataswami alias Ravi, was absconding, police said.
“Laxmi and Swami rented a house at Jaipuri colony in Nagole and procured young girls and women under the guise of providing them financial help. They were arranging customers over the phone and collecting an amount of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 from each,” the police said.
On Monday, “based on a tip off,” the police conducted a raid. They arrested the organiser and a customer, under PITA Act. “The victims will be sent to a rescue home as per the directions of the court,” police said.
“The owners of the houses particularly in the residential colonies are requested to verify the antecedents of the tenants who seek the house on rent and inform police the details of tenants, servants, workers etc to have these registered in the police station,” the police said.
