Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, two youngsters raped a 16-year-old girl in Peddapalli district. The issue came to light after a video which the suspects posted on social media went viral.
According to sources, the victim belongs to Sultanabad town and the suspects — Bandi Srinivas, 25, and Peddi Nagesh, 24, — hail from Kadambapur village in Sultanabad mandal.
A month ago, the duo raped the victim. They shot the entire incident on their mobile phones and later uploaded it on social media.
On Wednesday, the girl lodged a complaint. The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and also under the Prevention of Atrocities Against SC&STs Act. The girl has been sent for medical examination and a hunt is on to nab the suspects.
In a similar incident in Karimnagar district in 2016, a 22-year-old police aspirant was raped by two youths. They later uploaded the video on social media. In this case also, the victim belonged to the scheduled caste.
