TIRUPUR: An elderly couple was brutally murdered by a gang of miscreants at their farm house near Tirupur late on Wednesday night.
The couple, Palanisamy and Kannammal was living alone at their farm house in Midhiparai village near Kangayam. Their son and daughter are settled in Kangayam after their marriage.
In a shocking turn of events on Thursday morning, the couple was found murdered in front of their home under mysterious circumstances. On seeing the bodies, a milkman, who visited the spot early in the day, alerted the police.
The Kangayam police rushed to the spot and recovered bodies and sent them for post-mortem. According to a police official, Palanisamy was hacked to death and Kannammal was killed by slitting her throat. The house was not burgled and police have launched an investigation from various angles. This is the second similar incident that has taken place in Tirupur region in a week after an elderly couple was hacked to death at their farmhouse near Palladam.
