Hyderabad: Man kills relative for alleged affair with wife

M. Nageswar Rao took his cousin N. Nageswar Rao's help to eliminate Prasad Rao.

Hyderabad: The police on Monday arrested a pair of cousins for the murder of a 57-year-old man at Vanasthalipuram four days ago.

Police identified the victim as N. Prasad Rao, a resident of Almasguda, who was working in a private firm, while his wife K. Mary Leela had retired as assistant manager with the TSRTC. Prasad Rao used to go to a shop near his house, owned by his distant relative M. Nageswara Rao wo ran a milk vending unit.

On November 18, Prasad visited the house of M. Nageswara Rao. At that time, police said, M. Nageswara Rao noticed Prasad Rao was moving closely with his wife. This led M. Nageswara Rao to suspect his wife’s infidelity and he also developed grudge against Prasad.

He shared his concerns with his cousin N. Nageswara Rao and asked him to watch the movements of Prasad and his wife.

About 10 days later, early on the morning of November 29, Prasad’s body was found abandoned at Vanasthalipuram. The police who registered a case and took up investigations apprehended M. Nageswara Rao and his cousin N. Nageswara Rao on suspicion and questioned them.

During the investigation, it was revealed that Prasad had last visited the shop of M. Nageswara Rao, and went missing from there. The Nageswara Rao cousins were questioned and they confessed to having killed Prasad over his alleged misbehaviour with M. Nageswara Rao’s wife.

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said “When Prasad visited M. Nageswara Rao’s shop, he was given alcohol by the two cousins. While consuming liquor, they attacked Prasad and strangled him. They also took away a gold chain, ring, two phones and a wallet containing some cash and threw them in the dustbin. They dumped the body at a nearby shop to evade suspicion.”
