Suicide pact: Woman dies, mother critical
BENGALURU: A 34-year-old mentally unsound woman died, while her 65-year-old mother is battling for life after they set themselves ablaze.
The incident was reported in K. P. Agrahara near Magadi Road on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Thimmamma, while her mother, Rangamma, is undergoing treatment. Her condition is said to be critical. According to the police, the mother and daughter were living in a room provided by Rangamma's brother, Shankar.
As Thimmamma was mentally unsound and Rangamma was not able to work, they were reportedly worried about their future. Thus, they poured kerosene on themselves and set themselves ablaze in their room around 10.30 am.
“After hearing their screams, the neighbours rushed to their rescue and shifted them to Victoria Hospital. Around 9 pm, Thimmamma succumbed to burn injuries. Her mother, who had sustained 65 per cent burn injuries, is critical,” the police added.
The K. P. Agrahara police have registered a case in this connection and are investigating the matter further.
