A 28-year-old car owner-cum-cab driver was robbed in Jawaharnagar on Friday night.

Hyderabad: A 28-year-old car owner-cum-cab driver was robbed in Jawaharnagar on Friday night. The culprits who intercepted K. Rambabu’s car asked him for a matchbox and when he said that he did not have one, they picked up a fight and attacked him. The bikers pulled Rambabu from the vehicle and drove off in the car.

Police said Rambabu, a resident of Hakimpet, was returning home from Koukur dargah in his car. While he was passing through a lonely area, two persons on a bike intercepted his car and asked for a matchbox. When he said that he did not have one they entered into an argument, and when he threatened to call the police, they pulled him out and assaulted him. They also grabbed his 1.5 tola gold chain and a mobile phone and drove away. Police registered a robbery case. “We are checking for clues. We suspect habitual criminals,” SI Netaji said.
