TD leader Ayyanna arrested as per law, no violation of norms: DIG

Vijayawada: The state CID arrested Telugu Desam leaders Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu and his son Rajesh as per law and there was no violation of rules, CID DIG Sunil Kumar Naik said here on Thursday.

He said a complaint was received about grab of two cents of irrigation department land by them by forging signatures of government officials and that this ‘encroachment’ was confirmed in a preliminary investigation. “The sign and seal on the NOC were fake.”

Addressing the media, the DIG said that a case has been registered against Ayyanna and his sons Vijay and Rajesh following a complaint from Irrigation department executive engineer Mallikarjuna Rao on September 30.

The DIG said the accused forcibly got attestation from an executive engineer level officer. A detailed enquiry would follow. Ayyanna and Rajesh were arrested early this morning. “We have the right to use force if an accused resists arrest. The police faced protest from them when they were served the arrest warrant. Hence force was used.

Ayyanna is accused one and Rajesh accused three. Special teams were formed to arrest the other accused in the case. The arrested persons would be produced before a court for remand, he added.
