Chennai: Ruckus at airport as woman tries to enter without ticket
Chennai: A woman caused a stir at the Chennai international airport on Saturday morning after she attempted to enter without a ticket or any other documents.
The woman, identified as Sujitha, 40, entered the airport with her son and attempted to enter through the departure gate. The security force at the airport gate demanded to see her ticket and passport, only after which she would be allowed to enter.
However, as soon as the officer asked for her ticket, she began to scream, telling the officer that she was a VVIP and needed to travel to Singapore as soon as possible. She began to shout at the officer and saying that they was ill-treating her. The officer immediately called the airport police.
The airport police rushed to the scene with a woman constable and attempted to speak to the woman. The women workers at the gate and other travellers tried to pacify Sujitha but in vain. She continued to scream and even beat up some women constable who tried to restrain her.
Finally, the airport police were able to take her to the airport police station. Even though she continued to scream, her 10-year-old son, Sandeep informed the police of their identity and was able to give his father’s telephone number. The father, identified as Nathan from Chetpet, said that Sujitha was mentally ill and that he had been looking for them for hours. The police then asked him to come and take his wife and child. The man rushed to the police station and rescued them, a police officer said.
