Telangana: Police arrest 33-year-old for impersonating as police officer
Hyderabad: An man from Malkajgiri, K. Naresh, 33, has been arrested by the Marredpally police for impersonating as a police constable and cheating people. On October 13, the accused approached G. Charan who was with his relative on his two-wheeler near Rethifile bus stop and claimed that he is a police constable from the Ramgopalpet PS. He questioned Charan about his presence in the area.
Naresh then told Charan that he would take action against him, which frightened him. The accused then took Charan’s two-wheeler and debit card and fled the spot. Worried Charan approached the Ramgopalpet police station and narrated the incident to the police officials.
According to the police, the accused had withdrawn Rs 39,000. Naresh, a barber at Malkajgiri was arrested for a similar offense in 2016 and remanded to judicial custody. Police recovered Rs15,000 and the two-wheeler belonging to Charan. After interrogation, Naresh confessed that he also committed the recent theft at Picket Junction, Secunderabad, where he took Rs 8,000. A case has been registered under 420, 379 of IPC at Marredpally PS.
