6 thieves held, booty worth Rs 42 lakh seized

With their arrest, the police recovered gold and silver articles worth Rs 17 lakh said solved 10 cases.

Bengaluru: The Begur police arrested six notorious thieves and recovered gold and silver articles and 15 motorbikes, worth Rs 42 lakh, and solved 25 cases in the city.

Four robbers were identified as Boregowda, 32, a resident of Mailasandra, Sukumar S., 21, a resident of Bommanahalli, Prathap, 28, a resident of Garvebhavipalya and Jagadish, 23, a resident of Begur. With their arrest, the police recovered gold and silver articles worth Rs 17 lakh said solved 10 cases.

In another case, the police arrested two bike thieves – Keerthy K.S., 20, from Mandya and Sayed Imran, 24, a resident of Singasandra. They had stolen 15 bikes worth Rs 25 lakh. Their booty included 11 Royal Enfield bikes, two KTM bikes, one Pulsar and one Deo. The police recovered all the bikes and solved 15 cases.

The police said that as the number of thefts was increasing, they had formed a special team, which led to the arrest of six.
