Gold seized from air passenger at Vizag Airport
Visakhapatnam: The customs officials of Air Intelligence Unit at Vizag Airport recovered 18 pieces of gold biscuits weighing about 347 gms from the passenger who was detained by the officials at Vizag Airport on Sunday morning. The person has been identified as Abdul Razak Mohammed Ziyard, a Sri Lankan national.
The officials said that Abdul Razak arrived by Sri Lankan Airways on Sunday and was intercepted at the green channel, based on intelligence gathered by the officers of Air Intelligence Unit at the Vizag airport. On interrogation, he confessed to concealing 18 gold biscuits in his rectum and stomach.
Abdul Razak ejected four biscuits on his own and for the remaining, he was taken to the King George Hospital in Vizag city, where he ejected the remaining under medical care.
Commissioner of Customs Dr D.K. Srinivas said that the market value of the gold recovered from him is valued at Rs 10.5 lakh.
