Hyderabad: Tech student falls from balcony, dies

Hyderabad: An 18-year-old engineering student fell to death from the third floor of a building in Kushaiguda. D. Ishwarya ran on to the balcony of her house, lost control after climbing the balcony wall and fell down.

Police said Ishwarya, a resident of Palm Paradise Colony, was studying BTech first year at CVR Engineering college in Ghatkesar. She was the only daughter of D. Panasa Reddy, a government employee.

The family stays on the third floor of the apartment complex. On Sunday evening, her father was going out. He came down and got into his car. Meanwhile, Ishwarya who wanted to tell something to her father came running to the balcony to speak to him. The balcony has a wall which is four feet high. Attached to this wall is a one and half feet platform which was constructed for placing flowerpots.

“Iswarya came out running at high speed and stepped on the platform to call her dad, but she lost balance and fell,” Kushaiguda SI D. Anil said. The watchman heard Ishwarya shouting and when he came out, she was lying in a pool of blood with injuries on the head and other parts. She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her dead. Police registered a case of suspicious death and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
