Hyderabad: A 14-year-old boy who had entered the Jalpally lake along with his friends were among the three persons who drowned in the state.
According to the police, six boys from Aliabad had gone to the Jalpally lake on Sunday afternoon. Ismail who did not know swimming entered the lake along with his friends, and drowned.
“His friends tried to rescue him in vain, Out of fear they left the lake and did not even inform Ismail’s parents.” said Pahadishareef sub-inspector M. Sudhakar.
On Monday morning, locals noticed the body floating in the lake and alerted the police. The news spread in the surroundings. One of Ismail’s friends then approached the police and reported the incident.
The body was later identified and a case of suspicious death was was registered.
In another incident in Medak two youths drowned in Narinjavagu stream on Monday morning.
The duo were identified as Satish, 18, and Srinivas, 19, hailing from Madri village in Kohir mandal. The bodies were later recovered and handed over to their families. Police is investigating the case.
