Bengaluru: Pestered to marry, techie hangs self
Bengaluru: 33-year-old software engineer working at a reputed multi-national company hanged himself at his residence on Sunday night in Rajarajeshwari Nagar after an argument with his parents who were allegedly forcing him to marry soon. The deceased, Inder Umapathi, was found hanging from a ceiling fan by his father on Monday morning, the police said.
Inder, the only son of the couple, stayed with his father and mother on 4th Main, BEML Layout in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. Inder's father is a retired DRDO employee, while he worked at TCS in Whitefield. He was reportedly depressed as his parents were forcing him to get married soon as they were getting older.
On Sunday night, Inder and his father argued over Inder's delayed wedding plans. Inder told his father that he needed more time and he would get married only after three years. The family had dinner and later Inder went to his room and locked himself in.
As Inder had not come out of his room till late morning, Umapathi went in to find Inder hanging from the ceiling fan. He informed his wife and neighbours, who alerted the police. Rajarajeshwari Nagar police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a nearby hospital where the victim was declared brought dead.
Inder's body was later shifted to Victoria Hospital where the postmortem was conducted and the body handed over to his family members. The police did not find a suicide note.
