Mother posing as police abducts minor daughter with help of her paramour

Nagalaskhmi along with Althaf took away the 14-year-old girl while the old couple was in a state of shock over the sudden “raid” on house

NELLORE: The Buchireddypalem police cracked the case of abduction of a 14-year-old girl from Jonnawada in the night on July 30 with the arrest of a woman and her paramour in Vijayawada on Monday.

To the surprise of the police, the woman Maddila Nagalakshmi, 35, turned out to be the mother of the kidnapped girl.

According to Nellore rural DSP Harinath Reddy, Nagalakshmi had been married to Maddila Masthan of Jonnawada some 15 years ago and they had two girl children, now aged 14 and 8. Nagalakshmi was separated from Masthan six years ago and she developed a relationship with Althaf of Nellore.

Her two daughters were being taken care of by the parents of Masthan, Krishnavenamma and Sundaraiah, in Jonnawada.

Nagalaskhmi along with Althaf went to the house of the aged couple at night on July 30. Posing as police, they entered the house under the pretext of checking whether the old couple was engaged in bootlegging.

They took away the 14-year-old girl while the old couple was in a state of shock over the sudden “raid” on their house. The couple or the minor girl could not identify Nagalakshmi as she had disguised herself by using a mask and headscarf.

The police started an investigation after Krishnavenamma filed a complaint. The cops tracked down the accused with the help of the police IT cell in Vijayawada on Monday.

Harinath said Althaf is a bad character and a case is pending against him in Nellore. He planned the kidnap of the 14-year-old girl with suspected ill-intentions, the DSP said.
