Bengaluru: Housemaid steals from employer's house, held

Bengaluru: A 26-year-old woman was arrested by Srirampura police for an alleged theft at her employer's house.

The accused, Kavita Bai, a resident of Mudalapalya, was working at the complainant Satyanarayana’s house, looking after his ailing wife. On May 11, 2017 around 8 pm, the complainant took his wife to a private hospital after she developed some health complications.

When he returned home the next day, he found the main door open, the locker in his bedroom broken open and gold and silver ornaments missing. He immediately filed a complaint with the Srirampura police.

Almost three months after the case was registered, the police arrested Kavita and recovered 150 gm of gold and 2 kg of silver ornaments. She confessed to the crime during interrogation, and said she had stolen the keys to the main door and the locker which she used to gain entry into the house.

She told the police that she committed the crime with her husband Suresh, who has been arrested.
