Rajahmundry: ACB sleuths trapped a panchayat raj divisional executive engineer accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 at his office at Bhimadole in West Godavari on Thursday. According to the West Godavari ACB DSP V. Gopala Krishna, a gram panchayat building was sanctioned for construction at a cost of Rs 15 lakh from the NREGS fund at Pedanindrakolanu village of Nidamarru mandal in West Godavari. Money for construction of the building was sanctioned by the sarpanch. As work progressed the sarpanch’s kin Areti Satish submitted a bills to the tune of Rs 5 lakh for release of payment. AE level officers cleared the bills, but DE M.A. Saleem demanded a bribe to the tune of two per cent of the total amount which comes to Rs 10,000. Unwilling to pay the bribe Areti Satish alerted ACB officials who caught the official accepting the bribe.
