African national arrested, Rs 10 lakh fake Indian currency notes recovered in Hyd

HYDERABAD: The sleuths of The LB Nagar special operations team and LB Nagar police apprehended an Ivory Coast national, Zon Guey Rostand alias Dauda, on Tuesday and seized fake Indian currency with a face value of ₹10 lakhs. He was waiting for a customer near Raghavendranagar, whom he intended, said LB Nagar DCP B. Sai Sri.

Police said he had planned an elaborate scheme to convince the customer that he could double the number of notes using chemical technology. Rostand’s idea was to collect legal currency notes from the customer, divert his attention and replace them with fake notes.

Police said Rostand and his associates had cheated a person of ₹25 lahks in Madhapur recently. He had come to India on a business visa which expired in January.
