RPF nabs four, recover Rs 1crore valuables
Hyderabad: A four-member interstate gang from Haryana, who targeted women passengers in moving trains, was caught by the police on Tuesday. The police recovered property worth Rs 1.07 crore, which consists of 3.2 kg in gold, 280 grams silver and Rs 2 lakh cash. There are around 24 cases against this gang all over India and four in Telangana state.
The accused were identified as Surender Kumar, 38, Ramdiya, 45, Jagadish, 39, and Sureshkumar, 28, who belongs to same family in Haryana.
According to the railway police the gang used to book Extra Fare Ticket (EFT) and travel in reserved coaches in long distance trains running in the nights to hide their identity. They were experts in stealing property from passengers who were boarding train by diverting their attention. They used to steal from passengers travelling in reserved compartments between 2 am and 3 am while they were in asleep. They also used to target passengers in railway station and late night running trains.
G. Ashok Kumar, superintendent of railway police said, “After committing the theft the burglars would hide the booty near the railway tracks before getting down at some railway station. Later, they would visit the place once again and take the property before selling it.”
The accused were caught while roaming under suspicious condition on platform number 10 of Secunderabad railway station on Tuesday morning. A crime team led by K. Adi Reddy, inspector of railway police and B. Pramod Kumar of RPS Secunderabad apprehended the burglars.
