Hyderabad: Probe on to find prime accused

The official said that the drug mafia was about to spread over in Hyderabad as a chain.

Hyderabad: The preliminary investigation by the Special Task Force of the Excise and Prohibition department has revealed that the drug dealers in Goa are referring customers from major cities in South India to Kelvin Masra, who was arrested by the police on Saturday night.

An official from the STF said that an employee from an MNC, who was questioned by the STF, said that he used to visit Goa to overcome work pressure, depression and stress.

“During his trips, he tasted LSD and later got addicted to it. The drug suppliers in Goa referred him to Kelvin to avoid long travels from Hyderabad to Goa,” the official said.

The official said that the drug mafia was about to spread over in Hyderabad as a chain and the STF teams broke the chain based on credible information. “The entire investigation began when a 9th standard girl from an international school frequently sent messages to one number seeking drugs,” he said

“The girl belongs to a rich family. After interrogating Kelvin, links to celebrities in Tollywood were revealed. So far we have identified 21 VIPs listed on Kelvin’s mobile phone,” he said.

The official said that the investigation has not got to the prime accused behind the racket. “In most cases, the victims became drug addicts and later became suppliers. The source of the drugs and the suppliers are constantly being changed. This is the main impediment to nabbing the persons who are behind the drug market in the country,” the official said.
