Hyderabad: A 16-year-old was raped by two youths, Jangaiah an autorickshaw driver and Naveen who supplies water, at Satamrai village in Shamshabad mandal.
The accused after raping the victim, forced her to drink pesticide in an attempt to kill her. Later, one of them out of fear of being caught also consumed pesticide. Villagers rescued them and shifted them to Osmania hospital.
The girl is a resident of Gruhakalpa in Satamrai village under RGI Airport police station limits. The accused, who supply drinking water cans to houses in an auto trolley, saw the girl playing near her house and kidnapped her on Saturday. The girl’s father lodged a missing complaint with the RGIA police on Saturday night.
On Sunday morning, villagers saw the girl and Jangaiah in an unconscious state and informed the police. The police rushed to the spot and shifted her to Osmania Hospital for treatment and arrested Jangaiah. A hunt is on to nab Naveen. A case of rape and under provisions of the Pocso Act has been registered. The girl is recovering and her condition is said to be stable.
