Bengaluru: Local goons beat up techie
Bengaluru: Waiting for his woman friend outside her paying guest accommodation turned nightmarish for a 24-year-old software professional when a gang of three men allegedly mercilessly beat him up near Marathahalli last Monday night. When the woman pleaded with the three men to stop beating up her friend, the men allegedly threatened to beat her up too.
For the victim, Anuj (name changed), the ordeal did not end there. When he managed to get away from the spot, and called up the police control room, the officer on line did not extend any help.
The incident occurred near the Ayyappa temple at Marathahalli Bridge. A scared Anuj took to the social media to raise a complaint against the three goons. The police have now taken up his complaint, contacted him and taken details of the incident.
Anuj told Deccan Chronicle, “I was standing opposite Bhagini restaurant at Marathahalli as my friend went to her paying guest accommodation. She was to take a flight and I was accompanying her to the airport. As I was waiting, three men came out of nowhere and started beating me up for standing there. They punched me in the face 10-12 times. My friend came running for my rescue and started shouting for help. The three men then threatened her and warned her of dire consequences.”
He said, “One of the attackers questioned me for standing on his land. I replied that I was waiting for my friend, and I was just standing on the road. But he said he owned the alley too. They looked like local rowdies. Though three of them punched me, there were several others who were standing behind him and they all seemed scared of him.”
When the crowd began to swell, Anuj managed to escape along with his friend and ran for safety. “I then called the police helpline number, but the officer who picked up the call didn't seem interested in helping us. We hailed a cab and went away,” he said.
