Hyderabad: Sleuths nab 2, seize 200 kg of marijuana

During interrogation the accused Shaik Arif confessed to the smuggling of ganja from agency area to the city.

Hyderabad: Two hundred kilograms of marijuana was seized from two drug peddlers by the East Zone Task Force team in Chatrinaka on Monday.

The police got specific information that Shaik Arif and Shaik Sameer were driving from the agency area of Vizag on Sunday with a consignment of marijuana. They kept watch on them and received information that they had reached Shaik Arif’s residence in Chatrinaka, Hyderabad, and stayed there the night. When they were about to leave for Nanded along with the ganja on Monday morning, the police team moved in and arrested them. S. Chaitanya Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, said, “During interrogation the accused Shaik Arif confessed to the smuggling of ganja from agency area to the city. Two days back Shaik Arif and Ashwaq had engaged a Maruthi Suzuki Swift Desire car B.No.AP28DQ946 to transport the contraband. Shaik Arif and Shaik Sameer went to the agency area of Vizag and met Srikanth and procured 200 kg of ganja for `1,500 per kg and came to the city.”

The other accused persons Ashwaq and Srikanth, are still absconding.
