Chennai: Man kills son over dispute
Chennai: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old man was beaten to death by his father with a wooden log under Kavarapettai police station in Tiruvallur district on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Haridas (35) a resident of Peravallur near Gummudipoondi in Tiruvallur.
He worked at a private factory in Irulipattu in Sholavaram. Haridas lived in a joint family.
According to police, the government has allotted a house for the family in Peravallur. The family members had been fighting over the house since the allocation.
Meanwhile, on Sunday after a heated argument over the house, Haridas's father Ravi (61) allegedly attacked his son with a wooden log, said an investigating officer.
Haridas reportedly fell unconscious. Ravi's two sons tried to nab him, however, he fled the spot attacking them too.
They rushed Haridas to a private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The Kavarapettai police registered a case and shifted his body to the Ponneri government hospital for the postmortem.
On Monday, the police reportedly arrested Ravi and remanded him to judicial custody. Based on his confession, police also took his wife Jayalkshmi( 52) under custody. Further investigations are on.
